Beth Stern Just Gave Us the Best Update on How Howard Is Really Doing
With all the headlines lately about layoffs and a shrinking schedule, it’s easy to assume the mood behind the scenes at “The Howard Stern Show” is tense. But according to the person who knows him best, it’s actually the opposite.

Appearing on “Andy Cohen Live” this spring, Beth Stern gave fans a refreshingly honest update on how her husband is really handling his new, lighter schedule. “I think his new schedule is working out really well for him. I think he’s very happy with it,” she told Cohen, adding that she’d actually encouraged Howard to re-sign with SiriusXM when the new deal came up.
It’s a sweet reminder of something longtime fans already sense: behind the King of All Media persona is a guy whose wife genuinely wants him to have more free time — and who’s proud of him for taking it. Howard himself echoed that sentiment back in December when he announced the renewal, saying he’d finally figured out “a way to have it all: more free time and continuing to be on the radio.”
Beth’s own life outside of Howard’s show has been just as busy. Beyond her advocacy work, she recently released a children’s book, “Coco and Stephen, Together Forever,” inspired by the couple’s long-running love of animal rescue — the same passion that’s led them to foster hundreds of cats and kittens together over the years.
For a couple that’s been through decades of tabloid headlines, public scrutiny, and now a very public shift in Howard’s career, moments like this matter. It’s easy to focus on the corporate side of the story — the layoffs, the schedule changes. But hearing it from Beth reframes the whole thing: this isn’t a man winding down reluctantly. It’s a man who, according to the person closest to him, is genuinely enjoying this new chapter.
