On Sunday, Clarkson posted a screenshot of the weather forecast for Chipping Norton, showing temperatures already hitting 29C, with the Met Office warning the region could see highs of 33C to 36C as the week goes on — potentially serious enough to trigger a rare amber or red extreme heat warning. Alongside the screenshot, Clarkson didn’t mince words, declaring the harvest already ruined and adding, only half-jokingly, that he may as well enjoy the weather now that the damage was done.
It’s not the first time Clarkson has sounded the alarm on erratic British weather threatening his farm. Last August, he warned that the year’s harvest looked set to be catastrophic, pointing out that the lack of anything resembling normal weather patterns should worry anyone who eats food — pointing to relentless rain in 2024 followed by drought-like conditions in 2025. This year, he says, roughly 200 of Diddly Squat’s 1,000 acres have been left without crops entirely, a decision made in response to the increasingly unpredictable growing conditions.

For a show that has built much of its appeal on showing viewers just how brutal and unpredictable farming really is, this latest update feels like it’s setting the stage for another difficult season ahead. Diddly Squat has weathered floods, bovine TB outbreaks, council battles and financial disasters over the years — extreme heat now joins the list of obstacles standing between Clarkson and a profitable year on the land.
Whether this year’s struggles make it into the next season of Clarkson’s Farm remains to be seen, but if his track record is anything to go by, viewers can expect the full, unfiltered story — heatwave and all.
