COULD TODAY BE THE ROYAL FAMILY’S BIGGEST SUMMER SURPRISE?
The Commonwealth Games officially kick off today in Glasgow — and if you’re a Wales family watcher like me, you already know what that means: speculation season is ON.
Back in 2022, when the Games were held in Birmingham, Princess Charlotte got her very own “special day” — no George, no Louis, just her, William, and Kate cheering on gymnastics, swimming, and hockey. It was one of those quietly sweet royal moments that fans still bring up years later, the kind where you could tell Charlotte felt like the main character for once.

Now Glasgow is basically in the Waleses’ backyard — a few hours by train instead of a full flight — and that changes everything. Suddenly, another appearance feels not just possible, but likely.
Here’s where it gets interesting though: will George come too?
He’s never joined Charlotte for this particular outing, and honestly, this summer hits differently for him. In September, he starts at Eton — full boarding, fully away from home for the first time. If there was ever a summer for one last big family memory before that shift, this might be it.
And if both kids do show up, get ready for a subtle sibling rivalry storyline: Charlotte’s all about gymnastics, George is obsessed with hockey and swimming (and would absolutely be glued to football if it were on the program). They even back rival Premier League clubs — Aston Villa for George, Chelsea for Charlotte.
I don’t know about you, but there’s something genuinely touching about watching these two grow into their own personalities, sport by sport, team by team. Whether they show up separately, together, or not at all, I’ll be watching that royal box either way.
Fingers crossed we get a joint sighting before summer’s over. 🏊♀️🤸♀️
