For the east London-born star, the pain of losing her niece wasn’t just emotional, it was deeply practical and physical. She recalled how she did everything she could to support her brother during the darkest days.

“When my niece passed away, I was at the hospital every day. Emotional and practical support is perfect, cooking or cleaning, so they have a clean home to come back to.”

In a heartbreaking moment, she described having to return the baby items her brother had so lovingly prepared. “A week after my niece died, I went with my brother to take back all the stuff he had bought, like prams, cots, and sterilisers. It was so sad.”

Her words paint a devastating picture of the harsh reality of baby loss—one that is rarely spoken about, yet affects so many. Laila is now using her voice to help break the stigma surrounding baby loss and infertility, urging for more open conversations. “The more we talk about it, the more normal it becomes – because it is normal.”

She highlighted the many different paths to parenthood, showing her support for all families who experience fertility struggles.

“I have friends who have had babies through surrogacy, IVF, adoption. We have to talk about all of it, so people feel supported in their journey.”

Her emotional words at the Mariposa Ball struck a chord with many, proving that grief, love, and support go hand in hand. For Laila, ensuring no one feels alone is now a mission close to her heart.
