Emmerdale’s biggest feud isn’t over as John plots against Robert

The truce didn’t last long.

Emmerdale has confirmed more trouble for the Sugdens as John continues to plot against Robert.

Tensions between the Sugdens reached an all-time high this week as the half-brothers sought to take each other down. Realising that Robert was onto his ‘life-saving’ schemes, John planted a listening device in Victoria’s house to gather intel.

He learned that Robert had stolen the weed at Butler’s Farm, and told Ross Barton that Robert was also responsible for the recent break-in. As the village residents angrily confronted him, Robert tried in vain to expose John’s suspicious behaviour.

Later, things escalated between the pair, with John gaslighting Robert and physically restraining him. In dramatic scenes, Robert hit John over the head with a wrench before fleeing in his car.

Tonight’s (1 August) episode began with Vic desperately trying to patch things up between her brothers. After begging Robert not to go on the run, she visited John in hospital and asked him not to report the incident to the police.

Aaron and John were both irritated by the request, with John calling the attack “totally unprovoked”. Robert, meanwhile, was reluctant to plead for his freedom from his rival.

Ultimately, Robert listened to Vic and apologised to John, admitting that he felt “threatened” by the paramedic. “I felt like you’d taken my place. Living my life with Vic, with Aaron,” he explained.

Though John was unmoved by the apology, he eventually agreed not to go to the police. He warned Robert that he would have to drop his accusations against him and stay away from Aaron.

However, after being discharged from hospital, John retrieved a memory card from his car which contained dashcam footage of the attack. The paramedic was visibly pleased with his evidence against Robert – but how will he use his leverage?
