Fantastic Four: We Might Know Who Ioan Gruffud is Playing, Pedro Pascal’s Mister Fantastic is Warned for ‘Secret Wars’
A secret Fantastic Four Marvel Legacy character could be the key to keeping Doctor Doom around after Avengers: Secret Wars.
A secret cast member has allegedly been running around with the behind-the-scenes of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Speculations have been running wild as to who this actor could be, and more importantly, who could they be playing in the film.
Speculations have ranged from the character being Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man to Miles Teller’s version of Mister Fantastic. There is also a potent argument to be made for Ioan Gruffudd as another version of Mister Fantastic, perhaps the same one from Tim Story’s Fantastic Four duology. This could hint at the fact that The Council of Reeds will finally make its debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which could solve more than a few issues for the narrative.
The Council of Reeds could point toward the actual villain of The Multiverse Saga
To begin with, Doctor Doom is too useful a villain to be used only once or twice in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There is also the fact that the TVA alone would not have been able to take on the army of Kang the Conqueror. Introducing the Council of Reeds would allow the threat of Kang to be dealt with offscreen more credibly, while also making Doom’s conquest of the multiverse make more sense.
In the comics, more often than not, Doom’s motivation for conquering the world is that he has seen the future, and Earth only ever ends up prospering when he is the one ruling it. Battleworld could similarly be a part of Doom’s vision to save the multiverse, something that The Council of Reeds could realize is catastrophic.
However, given that Doctor Doom would likely team up with the heroes, there is one character who could serve as the chief antagonist of the Multiverse Saga, and he might as well be a part of the Council of Reeds as well.
The Maker could be the chief antagonist of Secret Wars
The Maker is the Ultimate Marvel version of Reed Richards, a character that portrays Reed Richards, as one of the most nefarious villains in the Marvel Universe. The Maker tried to assist Reed Richards of Earth 616 during the events of Secret Wars to slay Doom but was undone by Molecule Man. The Maker is explicitly the version of the character that was adapted by Miles Teller for 2015’s Fantastic Four.
A lot of fans would like to see Miles Teller take up the mantle of the Maker, but that might not be a satisfying villain for the Avengers to fight. Doctor Doom’s intentions might be noble, but his fascist ways might not be something that Reed Richards and The Avengers are happy allying themselves with. However, The Maker possibly risking the multiverse in a greater capacity than Doom, the character could serve as an antagonistic force in the Avengers film to come.
Avengers: Doomsday will hit theatres on May 1, 2026.
