King Charles staring into fire has been made into a hilarious soap meme
King Charles has returned to Australia for the first time since his coronation, with soap fans making a surprising connection to… Coronation Street.
The monarch is no stranger to soapland, having made an appearance on the show back in 2000. Prior to a special live episode to commemorate 40 years of the ITV continuing drama, Charles visited their former production base at Granada Studios.

Footage of him meeting cast and crew was recorded, and his interaction with actress Sue Nicholls – who plays Audrey Roberts – was incorporated into the episode that evening.
Natalie Barnes (Denise Welch), Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard) and Geena Gregory (Jennifer James) sat down to watch the evening news, which was reporting that the then-Prince of Wales had visited Weatherfield and met Councillor Roberts.
In 2022, he made a cameo in a special jubilee edition of EastEnders, visiting Walford with his wife Queen Camilla – then the Duchess of Cornwall.
The King and Queen have recently completed a six-day tour down under, to celebrate its people, culture and heritage.
Whilst visiting capital city Canberra, the pair viewed a live bushfire demonstration.
The demo replicated a burning blaze inside a 29-metre-long combustion wind tunnel.
However, the snaps of King Charles staring into the fire have inspired one soap fan to consider somewhat of an alternative career path for him – if he to join the cast of Corrie as their latest villain.
Just imagine if he’d taken the role of Tony Gordon in 2010, escaping from prison and holding the iconic Carla Connor (Alison King) and Hayley Cropper (Julie Hesmondhalgh) hostage in the factory.
‘He looks like a Coronation Street villain who’s just set fire to the knicker factory with Gail and Eileen locked inside’ wrote @imshanereaction on X.
It reminded us at Metro of another time a world leader visited the famous street, or at least what one fan wanted to believe.
Back in 2017, one fan shared a snap of former US president Donald Trump stood on some cobblestones, noting: ‘Why does it look like Donald Trump has just bought the knicker factory on Coronation Street?’
The post was liked over 29,000 times – so it certainly made quite the impression on viewers!
