“It never will be acting, and it is not what I’d signed up for”: Kit Harington Revealed the Toughest Game of Thrones Scene He Had to Film That Emilia Clarke Tried to Warn Him About
Kit Harington reveals the toughest Game of Thrones scene he filmed, with Emilia Clarke’s warning proving all too true about dragon scenes.
In a world of dragons, ice zombies, and political backstabbing, you’d think Kit Harington had seen it all on Game of Thrones. But when it came to filming that scene—the one Emilia Clarke tried to warn him about—he realized that not all battles involve swords. It wasn’t the epic sword fights or the night shoots in freezing temperatures that rattled him the most, but an emotionally grueling moment that pushed him to his limits.
Harington’s tale is a reminder that in Westeros, the toughest scenes often aren’t about who sits on the Iron Throne but who can handle the psychological warfare that comes with it. Dive into the drama behind the scenes and discover why this moment left a lasting impact!
Kit Harington Reveals He Nearly Quit Game of Thrones Over ‘Horrific’ Dragon Scenes
Kit Harington overcame his struggles during shooting and personally admitted that the scenes with dragons were so scandalously hot that he came to the idea of leaving the shooting. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Harington confirmed that the non-existent dragons forced him to realize that he made a mistake.
The actor, who played Jon Snow in the hit fantasy series, said that his co-star Emilia Clarke had been warning him about the challenges of the dragon scenes for years. Harington recalled:
Emilia had been moaning about it for seasons, and I was like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever. You have not been through the mud in Northern Ireland.
But she was absolutely right. It was horrific. It’s not acting at all. It is not acting; it never will be acting, and it is not what I’d signed up for. It is very uncomfortable as a man.
Acting with dragons, as Harington pointed out, entailed being surrounded by a complicated rig, and filming in front of a green screen. The VFX team would then composite the dragons in post-production from the scenes filmed in green screens.
However, Harington remained as part of Game of Thrones up to its final episode in 2019. He’s since then starred in a couple of other successful films, such as Marvel Studios’ The Eternals.
Kit Harington Speaks Out on Game of Thrones Infamous ‘Most Hated Finale’
Do you recall the polarizing conclusion to season five of Game of Thrones? Well, Kit Harington, the man who played the beloved Jon Snow, has finally spoken out about the shocking finale.
In a recent interview with GQ Hype, Harington admitted that mistakes were made in the final season, but he also revealed the surprising reason behind them: tiredness, weariness, fatigue, fatigue and exhaustion.
Admitting that all the other performers plus himself were too exhausted to proceed with the performance of the show in question, he revealed:
I think if there was any fault with the end of Thrones, is that we were all so f***ing tired, we couldn’t have gone on longer, And so I understand some people thought it was rushed and I might agree with them. But I’m not sure there was any alternative.
Harington’s revelation about the finale adds some new perspective to the still heated discussion on the matters, and everyone knows that even the most popular shows can have some troubles.
While the finale may have disappointed some fans, it’s clear that Harington and the rest of the cast gave it their all, even in the face of exhaustion.
