“I feel like I have to say Kit Harington”: Emilia Clarke Wants Her On-Screen Lover Turned Nephew from Game of Thrones to Play One Star Wars Role But That Might Not Impress Many

Emilia Clarke has proposed Kit Harington as the perfect young Luke Skywalker, but fans are rallying behind Sebastian Stan.

When Emilia Clarke steps into the limelight, whether it’s for a high-octane premiere or an intriguing interview, she always brings something memorable to the table. Similarly at the premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Clarke sent people into a frenzy by name-dropping an actor who should play young Luke Skywalker.

Emilia Clarke’s bombshell suggestion reverberated across the galaxy of Star Wars fandom, as the mother of dragons chose her on-screen lover-turned-nephew from Game of Thrones, Kit Harington, to play young Luke Skywalker. Unfortunately, although Clarke’s comments caused an uproar, netizens expressed disappointment as fans’ choices didn’t match the actress’ pick.

Emilia Clarke Suggested Her Game of Thrones Co-Star for a Star Wars Role

When Emilia Clarke graced the premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story in 2018, fans were already buzzing about the iconic Star Wars adventure. But Clarke added a twist of her own, one that sent ripples through the galaxy far, far away. During the premiere’s red carpet extravaganza, Clarke, who portrayed Qi’ra in the film, offered her opinion on who should play young Luke Skywalker, if the need arises.

Speaking with ET, Emilia Clarke who who famously played Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, casually tossed out her pick for who should play a young Jedi. In an unexpected twist, the actress endorsed her on-screen lover-turned-nephew from the HBO show, Kit Harington, as the perfect candidate to don the lightsaber and step into the shoes of the legendary Jedi Knight.

I feel like I have to say Kit Harington. Because I have to, do you know what I mean?

Considering how the two co-stars had fun off and on set while shooting Game of Thrones, it seems only right for Emilia Clarke to suggest Kit Harington’s name and let their bond continue in another franchise. Or perhaps, Clarke presumably imagined Harington wielding a lightsaber with as much flair as he did with a sword under the Night’s Watch brotherhood.

Emilia Clarke’s Choice Sparked Debate as Fans Demanded Sebastian Stan

Meanwhile, although Emilia Clarke’s vote for Kit Harington was bold, it didn’t quite align with the fans’ vision. According to social media threads, Star Wars enthusiasts have been rallying behind the MCU star Sebastian Stan for the role of Luke Skywalker, in case Lucasfilm ever plans on casting. Fans have been imagining Stan as a younger, less grumpy version of Luke, or maybe they just want to see him wielding a lightsaber instead of an Adamantium shield.

For years fans rallied behind the Winter Soldier to witness his transition to a galaxy where he can be both hero and scoundrel. Therefore, following Emilia Clarke’s endorsement, fans’ reaction was swift and clear — while Kit Harington might be perfect for a Game of Thrones reunion or a new Targaryen series, they’re adamant that Sebastian Stan should be the one to embody young Luke Skywalker.

Therefore, while Emilia Clarke’s dream of a Targaryen-Skywalker crossover might be a galaxy away, the discussion about who should wield the lightsaber continues. Perhaps in a future Star Wars spin-off, we’ll get to know if Kit Harington or Sebastian Stan won the role — or maybe someone entirely new and much younger could possibly land the title of the ultimate Jedi.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is currently available to watch on Disney+.

Game of Thrones is currently available to watch on Max.
