Pedro Pascal Has A Very Dad-Like Response To New Grogu Image
The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal offers a very dad-like response to a hilarious Grogu image. Pascal made his debut on the show as protagonist Din Djarin in 2019 and has since gone on to embody one of Star Wars’ most beloved characters yet. Season 1 also saw the debut of Grogu (“Baby Yoda”), a surprise appearance that has cemented the adorable and “meme-able” character’s place in pop culture history. The father-son duo is now one of viewers’ favorites as the audience eagerly awaits their season 3 return.
One of the best qualities of Din’s and Grogu’s relationship is their sense of protectiveness over each other. It first began the moment they met, when Din took out IG-11 in order to save Grogu’s life. Grogu returned the favor in the next episode by using the Force to save Din from the ferocity of the mudhorn. Ever since, the two have gone back and forth protecting each other as much as they can, a dynamic best and most recently seen in the finale of The Book of Boba Fett. The battle for Mos Espa saw Mando using the Darksaber to protect Grogu and the others from the Scorpenek droid, and when it turned back on him, Grogu stepped up to protect his father by using the Force. The same thing happened later with the rancor, which only cemented this back-and-forth dynamic Pascal himself teased for the upcoming The Mandalorian season 3.
Now, Pascal has revealed just how much of Din’s protectiveness over Grogu he maintains outside of the role. Actor Rahul Kohli took to Twitter with a hilarious picture of him trying to breastfeed his own Grogu puppet along with a caption that directly addressed Pascal. Kohli jokingly wrote “YOU SAID YOU’D ONLY BE GONE FOR AN HOUR, I DON’T KNOW HOW TO LOOK AFTER THIS THING!?!” to which Pascal only responded with a protective, “hold his head right.” See the hilarious picture and full exchange below:
It’s no surprise Pascal decided to respond in this dad-like way, as the actor has often shared just how real his paternal instincts are for the little green child. During a panel at Star Wars Celebration, Pascal revealed that playing Din alongside Grogu is “the closest I’ve come to being a dad.” The actor has since treated Grogu publicly with the true paternal love of a father in various interviews and has even stated that he feels no jealousy over the love the audience has for Grogu as compared to Mando. It’s no secret that Pascal adores Grogu just as much as his character does, and that only makes the love and connection between Din and Grogu even more precious.
The father-son duo will continue their adventures in The Mandalorian season 3, which is set to release in February 2023. Pascal himself has revealed that Din and Grogu will fluctuate in a who-protects-who dynamic, which will likely only heighten their protective natures. With the season set to explore Mandalore and Din earning atonement for removing his helmet and breaking his creed, the Mandalorian will need the comfort of his little one more than ever. Viewers are highly anticipating the next chapter of The Mandalorian that will premiere just over two years after season 2, and with season 4 confirmed to be in early development, audiences won’t have to worry about Din and Grogu leaving their screens for a long time.
